Last Sunday, I sat next to a lady who in between the service told me that I should not visit malls this week. She told me that her brother worked in the US Embassy, and had gotten a notification that a terror attack was imminent. This lady was a stranger so I was a bit taken aback by the way she dropped this bombshell, but I managed to sober up and tell her that we would pray for the nation. In the recent past, I have had a strong sense that our country is standing on the shoulders of prayer warriors. I committed to be one of these warriors and pray for the nation. (more…)

When Jesus say yes nobody can say no

So this song ‘when Jesus say yes nobody can say no’ has been top on gospel music charts for a while now. The YouTube upload has been equally popular! We clearly love the beats behind this song but the lyrics do not hurt either, they are encouraging and often what we need to hear. Yet someone needs to tell Michelle Williams and Co that they need to do another rendition; one for when Jesus says no, what to do. Okay I clearly am not a songwriter as those lyrics do not rhyme but still, there is a conversation there that needs to be had. (more…)

Who wants to rock this boat?

Growing up I had this mantra that I lived by, that I would not be like my parents, that I would be very different from them. This mantra did not come up because they were these evil people, being young is just a naïve place where you come up with all sorts of mantras. Having said this, there still were aspects of my parents that I did not want to emulate. However, many years later, I am still astounded at how similar I am to my parents. I have come to the conclusion that genes are such a strong thing; we are very much like our parents in most cases. And the Word of God seems to affirm this.
