Don’t sweat the small stuff

They say that every person who jumps from formal employment to the world of entrepreneurship always faces a day or a month or even an hour when that decision is put to test, the ‘day of reckoning’. As I celebrate one year of God’s faithfulness, I am conscious that my day of reckoning came in November last year. I left employment with such a naïve mindset. This naïve mindset has served me well (you can read this blog for more on this). The first few months of this decision were such an easy ride. Up until November happened. (more…)

I know you love him…..but let him go

I met this really hot guy. He is everything I ever prayed for. He speaks to my heart in ways I did not think possible. He seems to know the things I like, naturally. And when he speaks, well, I stand no chance. He is a dream come true, an answer to a prayer I have made for so many years. I had given up on meeting him; I had decided he would be a prayer request for many years to come. So meeting him was a pleasant surprise. To find that we connect at such emotional levels was a bonus. How lucky can a girl get? Excitement is an understatement to what I felt as I interacted with him. (more…)

Who wants to rock this boat?

Growing up I had this mantra that I lived by, that I would not be like my parents, that I would be very different from them. This mantra did not come up because they were these evil people, being young is just a naïve place where you come up with all sorts of mantras. Having said this, there still were aspects of my parents that I did not want to emulate. However, many years later, I am still astounded at how similar I am to my parents. I have come to the conclusion that genes are such a strong thing; we are very much like our parents in most cases. And the Word of God seems to affirm this.

Too many voices in the desert

This past week God convicted me to take some time off to unplug and seek to hear from Him. I felt like there were too many voices in my head that I was beginning to feel lost, that never fun sound of mosquitos was becoming a permanent feature – diiii diiii. You see we live in a noisy world. Left right and centre are voices that are competing for our attention. Information is freely dished out, and often it is the good kind of information, the kind that is meant for our good. If it is not in a book, it is in a tv show or in a sermon or in a workshop or in a blog such as this; many sources of voices and information. And just to emphasize often good sources. Yet in between all these it is very possible for the voice of God to be lost or replaced by the voice of others. (more…)

I want this gift…

If I could ask God to give me a specific gift it would be the gift of encouragement. I would ask Him to create in me an ability to encourage those around me; I would ask for the ability to see people as He sees them; I would ask for the gift of loving people the way He loves me. You see we live in a world that is full of reasons to bring us down. In between all that, we as people also have a tendency to see the worst in situations and people and hammer it away. (more…)

Child-like walk

We profess an amazing faith. A faith that to many is foolishness, yet it is the core of who we are. We believe God created our universe, by a simple word as ‘let there be…and there was”.  We know of a God who brought down a giant in the name of Goliath by the simple throw of a stone by David. We know of a God who caused the walls of Jericho to come down simply by getting the Israelites to go round the walls. We know of a God who caused His disciples to walk on water. We know of a God who caused seas to part for His children to pass through. We know of a God who sent His only begotten Son to come and die for us, who resurrected on the third day and in the process reconciled us back to the Father. We know of a God who was about amazing things. At the centre of this believes is a faith like no other. (more…)

I am a lucky girl

2012 was one of those years that I saw God in every bend of the way. My highlight was discovering gifts that I did not know I had. Then there was the part of Lord directing my paths so clearly that the verse of ‘thy Word is a lamp unto my feet’ was very real for me. At the end of that year, when I sang this song “If I had 10000 tongues that wouldn’t be enough to say thank you” it was with heartfelt gratitude. (more…)
